VS Guss AG can look back on a history spanning over 100 years.
In 1923 the merger of the preceding firms Carl Wipperfürth and F.W. Gottfried saw the emergence of the company “Vereinigte Schlüsselfabriken AG”, based in Solingen.
Since the resumption of production after the second world war, productivity has increased continuously. Frequent investment in the modernisation of production facilities and the tireless efforts of the workforce have enabled a strong expansion in capacity. The specialisation in the manufacture of high-precision, thin-walled small cast pieces with a high surface quality in black and white heart malleable iron as well as grey-cast pieces was characteristic of the successful company policy.
In 1983 the company expanded with the establishment of BTS Befestigungselemente-Technik GmbH in Saarburg, which saw the company significantly extend its activities in the mechanical post-processing of cast products. BTS Befestigungselemente-Technik GmbH is a medium-sized company in the metalworking industry, focused on the manufacture and sale of fastening and connecting materials.
In 1996 there was a change of name to “VS Guss AG”. The modern name reflects the evolution from a specialist, traditional company to a global supplier to a varied field of industry.
In the scope of a future-oriented reorganisation, a new wholly-owned subsidiary was founded on 01/01/2014. Since then, VS GmbH & Co. KG. has leased the entire casting operations from VS Guss AG.
As an iron foundry, VS GmbH & Co. KG has state-of-the-art production facilities and development tools. Innovation from tradition – the company has remained true to its roots.
VS Guss AG has acted as holding company for the VS Group since 01/01/2014.
